Your Social Security
Just in case some of you young whippersnappers (& some older ones) didn’t know this. It’s easy to check out, if you don’t believe it.
Be sure and show it to your kids. They need a little history lesson on what’s what and it doesn’t matter whether you are Democrat or Republican. Facts are Facts!!!
Our Social Security
Franklin Roosevelt, a Democrat, introduced the Social
Security (FICA) Program. He promised:
1.) That participation in the Program would be
Completely voluntary,
No longer Voluntary
2..) That the participants would only have to pay
1% of the first $1,400 of their annual
Incomes into the Program,
Now 7.65%
3..) That the money the participants elected to put
into the Program would be deductible from
their income for tax purposes each year,
No longer tax deductible
4.) That the money the participants put into the
independent ‘Trust Fund’ rather than into the
general operating fund, and therefore, would
only be used to fund the Social Security
Retirement Program, and no other
Government program, and,
Under Johnson the money was moved to
The General Fund and Spent
5..) That the annuity payments to the retirees
would never be taxed as income.
Under Clinton & Gore
Up to 85% of your Social Security can be Taxed
Since many of us have paid into FICA for years and are
now receiving a Social Security check every month –
and then finding that we are getting taxed on 85% of
the money we paid to the Federal government to ‘put
away’ — you may be interested in the following:
———— ——— ——— ——— ——— ——— —-
Q: Which Political Party took Social Security from the
independent ‘Trust Fund’ and put it into the
general fund so that Congress could spend it?
A: It was Lyndon Johnson and the democratically
controlled House and Senate.
———— ——— ——— ——— ——— ——— ——— —
Q: Which Political Party eliminated the income tax
deduction for Social Security (FICA) withholding?
A: The Democratic Party.
———— ——— ——— ——— ——— ——— ——— —–
Q: Which Political Party started taxing Social
Security annuities?
A: The Democratic Party, wit h Al Gore casting the
‘tie-breaking’ deciding vote as President of the
Senate, while he was Vice President of the US
———— ——— ——— ——— ——— ——— ——— –
Q: Which Political Party decided to start
giving
annuity payments to immigrants?
AND MY FAVORITE:
A: That’s right!
Jimmy Carter and the Democratic Party.
immigrants moved into this country, and at age 65,
began to receive Social Security payments! The
Democratic Party gave these payments to them,
even though they never paid a dime into it!
———— — ———— ——— —– ———— ——— ———
After violating the original contract (FICA), the Democrats turn around and tell you that the Republicans want to take your Social Security away!
And the worst part about it is uninformed citizens believe it!
If enough people receive this, maybe a seed of
awareness will be planted and maybe changes will
evolve. Maybe not, some Democrats are awfully
sure of what isn’t so.
But it’s worth a try. How many people can YOU send this to?
Actions speak louder than bumper stickers.
AND CONGRESS GIVES THEMSELVES 100% RETIREMENT FOR ONLY SERVING ONE TERM!!!
A government big enough to give you everything you want, is strong enough to take everything you have.
-Thomas Jefferson

If George W. Bush had been the first President to need a teleprompter installed to be able to get through a press conference, would you have laughed and said this is more proof of how he inept he is on his own and is really controlled by smarter men behind the scenes?
If George W. Bush had spent hundreds of thousands of dollars to take Laura Bush to a play in NYC, would you have approved?
If George W. Bush had reduced your retirement plan’s holdings of GM stock by 90% and given the unions a majority stake in GM, would you have approved?
If George W. Bush had made a joke at the expense of the Special Olympics, would you have approved?
If George W. Bush had given Gordon Brown a set of inexpensive and incorrectly formatted DVDs, when Gordon Brown had given him a thoughtful and historically significant gift, would you have approved?
If George W. Bush had given the Queen of England an iPod containing videos of his speeches, would you have thought this embarrassingly narcissistic and tacky?
If George W. Bush had bowed to the King of Saudi Arabia, would you have approved?
If George W. Bush had visited Austria and made reference to the non-existent “Austrian language,” would you have brushed it off as a minor slip?
If George W. Bush had filled his cabinet and circle of advisers with people who cannot seem to keep current in their income taxes, would you have approved?
If George W. Bush had stated that there were 57 states in the United States , would you have said that he is clueless.
If George W. Bush would have flown all the way to Denmark to make a five minute speech about how the Olympics would benefit him walking out his front door in Texas , would you have thought he was a self important, conceded, egotistical idiot.
If George W. Bush had been so Spanish illiterate as to refer to “Cinco de Cuatro” in front of the Mexican ambassador when it was the 5th of May (Cinco de Mayo), and continued to flub it when he tried again, would you have winced in embarrassment?
If George W. Bush had miss-spelled the word “advice” would you have hammered him for it for years like Dan Quayle and potato as proof of what a dunce he is?
If George W. Bush had burned 9,000 gallons of jet fuel to go plant a single tree on Earth Day, would you have concluded he’s a hypocrite?
If George W. Bush’s administration had okayed Air Force One flying low over millions of people followed by a jet fighter in downtown Manhattan causing widespread panic, would you have wondered whether they actually get what happened on 9-11?
If George W. Bush had failed to send relief aid to flood victims throughout the Midwest with more people killed or made homeless than in New Orleans , would you want it made into a major ongoing political issue with claims of racism and incompetence?
If George W. Bush had created the position of 32 Czars who report directly to him, bypassing the House and Senate on much of what is happening in America , would you have approved.
If George W. Bush had ordered the firing of the CEO of a major corporation, even though he had no constitutional authority to do so, would you have approved?
If George W Bush had proposed to double the national debt, which had taken more than two centuries to accumulate, in one year, would you have approved?
If George W. Bush had then proposed to double the debt again within 10 years, would you have approved?
So, tell me again, what is it about Obama that makes him so brilliant and impressive? Can’t think of anything? Don’t worry. He did all this, and more, in his first year as president — so you’ll have three years to come up with an answer.

Subject: Who’s to blame for the mess we’re in?

>
> You and I don’t set fiscal policy, Congress does.
>
> You and I don’t control monetary policy, the Federal Reserve Bank does.
>
> One hundred senators, 435 congressmen, one president, and nine Supreme Court justices equates to 545 human beings out of the 300 million are directly, legally, morally, and individually responsible for the domestic problems that plague this country.
>
> I excluded the members of the Federal Reserve Board because that problem was created by the Congress. In 1913, Congress delegated its Constitutional duty to provide a sound currency to a federally chartered, but private, central bank.
>
> I excluded all the special interests and lobbyists for a sound reason… They have no legal authority. They have no ability to coerce a senator, a congressman, or a president to do one cotton-pickingthing. I don’t care if they offer a politician $1 million dollars in cash. The politician has the power to accept or reject it. No matter what the lobbyist promises, it is the legislator’s responsibility to determine how he votes.
>
> Those 545 human beings spend much of their energy convincing you that what they did is not their fault. They cooperate in this common con regardless of party.
> What separates a politician from a normal human being is an excessive amount of gall. No normal human being would have the gall of a Speaker, who stood up and criticized the President for creating deficits.. The president can only propose a budget. He cannot force the Congress to accept it.
>
> The Constitution, which is the supreme law of the land, gives sole responsibility to the House of Representatives for originating and approving appropriations and taxes. Who is the speaker of the House? Nancy Pelosi. She is the leader of the majority party. She and fellow House members, not the president, can approve any budget they want. If the president vetoes it, they can pass it over his veto if they agree to.
>
> It seems inconceivable to me that a nation of 300 million can not replace 545 people who stand convicted — by present facts — of incompetence and irresponsibility. I can’t think of a single domestic problem that is not traceable directly to those 545 people. When you fully grasp the plain truth that 545 people exercise the power of the federal government, then it must follow that what exists is what they want to exist.
>
> If the tax code is unfair, it’s because they want it unfair.
>
> If the budget is in the red, it’s because they want it in the red ..
>
> If the Army &Marines are in IRAQ , it’s because they want them in IRAQ
>
> If they do not receive social security but are on an elite retirement plan not available to the people, it’s because they want it that way.
>
> There are no insoluble government problems.
>
> Do not let these 545 people shift the blame to bureaucrats, whom they hire and whose jobs they can abolish; to lobbyists, whose gifts and advice they can reject; to regulators, to whom they give the power to regulate and from whom they can take this power. Above all, do not let them con you into the belief that there exists disembodied mystical forces like “the economy,” “inflation,” or “politics” that prevent them from doing what they take an oath to do.
>
> Those 545 people, and they alone, are responsible.

I’m annoyed. I’m seeing these signs popping up all over the place….”Putting America to work” they say….Really? I never see any work being done anywhere near these signs! Additionally….I”m annoyed that the government spent probably hundreds of thousand of OUR tax dollars to have these signs made and posted all over the country! Why not invest that money in the recovery too?
This administration is SO arrogant that it needed to advertise? ”Here….look how good we are….we created some temporary jobs!” I”m sorry….I do laundry and cook dinner almost daily…but I don’t put up a sign asking you to pat me on the back!
Despite the ARRA spending (and the signs telling us how wonderful everything is) unemployment is now up over 10%….and it’s starting to affect my family personally……
Recovery my ass!
Just sayin’

It’s a twofer today!
OK…so over the past few weeks, while taking my daily walks through the ‘hood…I observed that many of the yards that had Obama signs in them last fall were now sporting “Vote Republican” signs….I found this both amusing and encouraging….seems that “hopey changey” stuff hasn’t worked out for much of the electorate in my tiny little town.
When I went to the polls this morning, I also observed more people approaching the GOP representatives for information than the DNC reps….additionally, much of the chatter inside and out was about REAL hope and change…I found myself grinning from ear to ear.
While it’s not a big year for us in SW Ohio in terms of Congressional races, I am anxious to see if the tide turns locally….I’m also looking forward to hopefully seeing a few Democratic upsets in some hotly contested seats around the country.
That said….2010 should be a hoot!

OK…so I restarted my WW program yesterday but didn’t get time to jot down anything until now.
I ended up gaining back 2 of the 3 pounds I lost on that weekend in Birmingham…but it was expected. I haven’t been journaling and I have eaten more than I should of stuff I should be avoiding. I have walked every day, but I need to get back to the gym and get in the pool and start working with weights again to get my body into the shape I want it to be in.
That said…I have been good about journaling my food and exercise the past 2 days by keeping my food log open on my laptop and also keeping WordPress open to remind me to write things as I have time to keep me on track.
I’m going to try to squeeze in a quick walk before I head to work.

OK…..so my daughter in law texts me tonight about the time difference between OK and AK…I’m thinking “Google it”….but I’m nice….so I look it up…..It’s 9:03 in Cincinnati…8:03 in SW OK….according to the internet it’s 5:03 in Fairbanks where they are moving….I text her my results…..her response? AM or PM? Really? No….she’s not blonde…..and she will be the mother of my grandchildren……… Uh….PM hon…..Oh…thanks mom! Love you! *blink*

Hello. My name is Liz C. and I am a Slacking Blogger. There…..I said it.
I actually LOVE to write….but you know those “Life Comes At You Fast” commercials? Yeah.
Anyway…for those of you following my weight loss….I’m pretty much hanging at the 40# down mark….I guess that’s good…but it’s also bad because I had hoped to be at my goal by now and scheduling that tummy tuck for February…not sure that’s gonna happen now. That said…for all the traveling that Hair Show season brings….I really can’t complain. I’ve been to some old favorites like Terre Haute and some new places like Toronto…and I did dine on healthy sushi for the most part and made use of the pathetic little gyms in my hotels.
I was surprised that on a recent trip to Birmingham (which I LOVED, BTW) I managed to lose 3 pounds despite eating such awful things as corned beef hash and chicken wings…..maybe it was all the walking? ;)
I have a trip to Toledo next weekend and a possible business meeting in Florida before the end of the year…but I am convinced I can handle myself while on the road now….that’s a good thing
That said….I fully intend to be back to counting my points, the gym and regular journaling and blogging starting THIS MONDAY….I’m determined to lose that last 20 (ish) and get that belly button piercing in time for bikini season 2010.
For those of you who are riveted by my pearls of political wisdom…I’m afraid that there is not enough bandwidth to explain how i am feeling about everything that is going down right now….but rest assured, once i get my inbox under control (again) and I sort out my thoughts and have some time to read and form some educated and clear opinions….y’all will be the first to know…..you’ve been warned
Have a great weekend!
Liz
