I’m annoyed. I’m seeing these signs popping up all over the place….”Putting America to work” they say….Really? I never see any work being done anywhere near these signs! Additionally….I”m annoyed that the government spent probably hundreds of thousand of OUR tax dollars to have these signs made and posted all over the country! Why not invest that money in the recovery too?
This administration is SO arrogant that it needed to advertise? ”Here….look how good we are….we created some temporary jobs!” I”m sorry….I do laundry and cook dinner almost daily…but I don’t put up a sign asking you to pat me on the back!
Despite the ARRA spending (and the signs telling us how wonderful everything is) unemployment is now up over 10%….and it’s starting to affect my family personally……
Recovery my ass!
Just sayin’

It’s a twofer today!
OK…so over the past few weeks, while taking my daily walks through the ‘hood…I observed that many of the yards that had Obama signs in them last fall were now sporting “Vote Republican” signs….I found this both amusing and encouraging….seems that “hopey changey” stuff hasn’t worked out for much of the electorate in my tiny little town.
When I went to the polls this morning, I also observed more people approaching the GOP representatives for information than the DNC reps….additionally, much of the chatter inside and out was about REAL hope and change…I found myself grinning from ear to ear.
While it’s not a big year for us in SW Ohio in terms of Congressional races, I am anxious to see if the tide turns locally….I’m also looking forward to hopefully seeing a few Democratic upsets in some hotly contested seats around the country.
That said….2010 should be a hoot!

OK…so I restarted my WW program yesterday but didn’t get time to jot down anything until now.
I ended up gaining back 2 of the 3 pounds I lost on that weekend in Birmingham…but it was expected. I haven’t been journaling and I have eaten more than I should of stuff I should be avoiding. I have walked every day, but I need to get back to the gym and get in the pool and start working with weights again to get my body into the shape I want it to be in.
That said…I have been good about journaling my food and exercise the past 2 days by keeping my food log open on my laptop and also keeping WordPress open to remind me to write things as I have time to keep me on track.
I’m going to try to squeeze in a quick walk before I head to work.

OK…..so my daughter in law texts me tonight about the time difference between OK and AK…I’m thinking “Google it”….but I’m nice….so I look it up…..It’s 9:03 in Cincinnati…8:03 in SW OK….according to the internet it’s 5:03 in Fairbanks where they are moving….I text her my results…..her response? AM or PM? Really? No….she’s not blonde…..and she will be the mother of my grandchildren……… Uh….PM hon…..Oh…thanks mom! Love you! *blink*

Hello. My name is Liz C. and I am a Slacking Blogger. There…..I said it.
I actually LOVE to write….but you know those “Life Comes At You Fast” commercials? Yeah.
Anyway…for those of you following my weight loss….I’m pretty much hanging at the 40# down mark….I guess that’s good…but it’s also bad because I had hoped to be at my goal by now and scheduling that tummy tuck for February…not sure that’s gonna happen now. That said…for all the traveling that Hair Show season brings….I really can’t complain. I’ve been to some old favorites like Terre Haute and some new places like Toronto…and I did dine on healthy sushi for the most part and made use of the pathetic little gyms in my hotels.
I was surprised that on a recent trip to Birmingham (which I LOVED, BTW) I managed to lose 3 pounds despite eating such awful things as corned beef hash and chicken wings…..maybe it was all the walking? ;)
I have a trip to Toledo next weekend and a possible business meeting in Florida before the end of the year…but I am convinced I can handle myself while on the road now….that’s a good thing
That said….I fully intend to be back to counting my points, the gym and regular journaling and blogging starting THIS MONDAY….I’m determined to lose that last 20 (ish) and get that belly button piercing in time for bikini season 2010.
For those of you who are riveted by my pearls of political wisdom…I’m afraid that there is not enough bandwidth to explain how i am feeling about everything that is going down right now….but rest assured, once i get my inbox under control (again) and I sort out my thoughts and have some time to read and form some educated and clear opinions….y’all will be the first to know…..you’ve been warned
Have a great weekend!
Liz

Y’all are probably sick and tired of all the articles I post here…but I really don’t care…you guys need to wake up, get off your duffs and do something, or we will NOT have the country and freedoms we have been enjoying for much longer.
Congress is passing bills without reading a WORD of the damned things at a blinding pace and you guys aren’t either…..and you’ll have NOBODY but yourselves to blame when you’re got no job, no money and no freedom….you can’t blame Bush anymore….Barry, Joey, Nancy and Harry OWN this shit….and those of you that voted for these numbskulls have nobody but yourselves to blame for being uninformed and lazy….sorry, but I call them as I see them.
Barry is creating czars that are accountable to NOBODY but him almost daily…..some senators are WISELY waking up and looking at the constitutionality of this obvious power grab….but it’s really up to YOU to start calling your congresscritters and demand accountability….we’re getting NONE of the promised transparency!
The Cap and Trade bill slid right through the house…..the tax increases there are on ENERGY something ALL of us use…it’s going to hit the middle and lower class harder than anyone……don’t believe me? Look it up….OH wait….CNN is the be all end all…..you don’t do anything without getting your marching orders from Chris Matthews…..gotcha.
Now we’ve got Obamacare on the horizon….read my note on Obamacare….are you sure you want that????? Nancy Pelosi says that there will be some kind of tax on high wage earners to pay for this….are you kidding me????? Why in the HELL are we punishing entrepreneurs? These are the people taking the risks….these are the people creating jobs! Since when is taking capital AWAY from these people going to create jobs and generate more wealth? WAKE UP PEOPLE! It just creates more government dependency…..just get in line for your brown shirt! Trickle up poverty…yeah…that’s what I want for my kids and my grand kids. (can I puke now?)
Did you know that under Obamacare you’ll not be free to have private insurance? Look it up. Did you know that 40% of healthcare costs occur when you are over 65? Guess who’s going to go without? Seniors….So we’ll be funding abortion at the front end and effectively funding euthanasia on the back end because Grandma is too old to warrant that hip replacement. Where will Canadians go for decent healthcare once Obamacare is enacted?????
National debt? Thanks to these BOOBS it’s over $1,000,000,000,000…do you realize that if we paid that back at $1 per second, it would take thousands of years to pay back????????
The more I read, the more incensed I become…and don’t even get me STARTED on the hate crimes legislation that they’re trying to tack on to a defense bill…..CRIPES! Isn’t all crime pretty much based on hate and greed????????
Those emails I keep getting to retire in Costa Rica are looking VERY appealing! You’ll find me braiding hair on the beach.
Of course…probably the only people reading this are the ones who agree with me to begin with….

So, the president is peeved because people are calling it socialized medicine……if it walks like a duck, right Bam Bam?
The CBO estimates the cost over 10 years to be into the trillions….TRILLIONS. It also estimates that between 15 and 20 million people will lose their private employer provided healthcare and have to choose the government “public” option. Additionally, it will impose $2 Billion in penalties on those who are uninsured.
The free market encourages competition amongst private insurers and a government run entity will no doubt squelch competition and eventually take over the entire market.
The thing that is bothering me, and other right thinking people, most is the creation of a medical review board, to the tune of $15 Billion. This board has already been created and there are ZERO doctors on the board…..ZILCH! So, who is going to be making decisions on your care? Certainly not you, your family and your doctor….but some government appointed entity with no clue who you are and what your situation is.
It smacks of the nationalized healthcare that is rampant in Europe. I have first hand experience with it as my family is from Germany. Case in point: I have a 46 year old uncle with Down’s Syndrome. One of the effects of Downs is that their cells degenerate at twice the speed of “healthy” people. So, Volker (my uncle) had cataracts…..but the government wouldnt pay for the surgery because he is seen as a “diminished” member of society and the cost would not be worth it. My aunt lawyered up and fought the government….she won and Volker can now see again….but not everyone has the cabbage necessry to take on big government. So therein lies the rub…some government appointed bureaucrats deciding on your value to society and if the cost of your care is worth it?
Dissent is already growing within the president’s own party as these details begin to emerge…which is a good thing….I’m tired of being told that legislation will be available for public review only to have it crammed down our throats….so much for that transparency, huh Barry?
Do I think the system needs fixing? Sure….but I think we need to look to frivolous lawsuits and the rising cost of malpractice insurance, etc as a possible starting point. The lawyers who are suing doctors for ridiculous amounts of money for, in many cases, trivial things are a huge problem. ( They and the judges who allow these suits to go forward.) Doctors are being driven out of business in some cases because of the rising costs of insurance.(are you reading this John Edwards?)….and those costs are being passed on to the consumer in the form of higher rates.
I find it interesting that at a time when Europe has realized that they’ve had it wrong for so long and has started to make a dramatic shift to the right, that we…who had it right, are starting down the slippery slope toward socialism.
I’m just sayin’

It’s probably too soon to tell, but I stayed the same this week. Looking back over my logs, looks like I may have neglected to journal a few things I ate, particularly at the graduation party i attended on Saturday.
My exercise levels have stayed good, so that’s not the problem.
Anyway….we got a Wii Fit last week, and I am having a blast doing new exercises on it every day….who knew a video game could kick your butt so well? My only complaint is that the darned thing grunts when I step on it, LOL…hopefully not for too much longer.
More later

So, I overcame a very long plateau at Monday’s weigh in and it feels great…I’m now down 35 pounds…more than halfway to my goal…and more importantly, I’m feeling fantastic.
Bought a Wii Fit over the weekend, and I’m having a BLAST with it….I’m already a Hula Hoop Master! I was a little upset that it tends to grunt when I stand on the board, but I figure, at least I’m making an attempt.
I’m starting with the Yoga and balance exercises, then moving on to some real sweat inducing cardio….who knew fitness could be so fun!
Anyway….if the rain blows out, I’ll probably take a walk later…if not, maybe I’ll hit the gym and the treadmill.
More to come!
